THE BOTTLE JOB! PLAYBOOK

One league. Play your way.

Join on the website, make your picks, and follow your league here, on Telegram or on Discord. You do not need a messaging app to play.

Joining as a player

  1. Open your organiser’s league invitation. Create a free account or sign in.
  2. Join the league. If approval or entry payment is required, follow the organiser’s instructions before playing.
  3. Open My Matchday and save your picks before the displayed deadline. LMS uses eligible Saturday and Sunday fixtures; picks normally lock Friday at 8pm UK.
  4. Follow the league table and updates. You can change picks until the deadline; late picks are refused.

For LMS, pick a team to win. A draw or loss means BOTTLED IT! The last remaining player wins; with all-out rollover enabled, eligible entrants return if everyone is out. Check your organiser’s missed-pick and postponed-match rules.

For 5 Scorers, choose five eligible Premier League players. All five scoring wins; multiple qualifying players share the prize. Points decide the season-end outcome if nobody has won with all five. Each competition win earns a star, including shared wins.

Running your own league

  1. Create an account and choose an organiser plan.
  2. Name your league, choose LMS or 5 Scorers, select a gameweek and review your rules and entry fee.
  3. Share your website invitation. Players have free accounts; they do not buy organiser plans.
  4. Optionally connect Telegram or Discord using the guides below. Manage entrants, approvals, entry records and announcement settings from your league.

Add the other game from League Admin whenever you are ready. Organiser subscriptions and competition entry fees are separate.

Run a league

Telegram: your league’s own group

The owner creates a private Telegram group and adds the Bottle Job! bot as an administrator. Our step-by-step guide checks the connection and provides copyable codes. There is no need to create a bot.

  1. Owner: open your league → Messaging → Set up Telegram step by step.
  2. Link your account privately to the bot, then connect your league group using the separate group code.
  3. Optionally create LMS and 5 Scorers topics and save their message links in the guide.
  4. Players: join the website league first, then open Messaging → Telegram → Link my account. Send your personal code privately to the bot.
  5. Send /menu with the league code in a private bot chat to browse teams and scorers. Save your selections.

Use a separate group per league. Topics organise messages but are visible to everyone in that group. Group invites and website league invites are separate; joining Telegram alone does not enter the competition.

Discord: private league areas

On the Bottle Job! Discord server, linked owners can set up a private league area. Approved, linked members receive access to the leagues they belong to. Membership in several leagues gives access to those areas; pending applicants do not receive private league access.

  1. Join your website league and open Messaging → Discord → Link my account.
  2. Copy the command shown. In Discord choose /league, then paste the command in its command field. Linking replies are private.
  3. Use Join the Bottle Job! Discord server on the messaging page. Linking the website and joining the server are both required.
  4. Owners: check the private league area status and use Set up / retry if needed. Allow around two minutes for access to sync.
  5. Use make-your-picks for private bot menus. LMS and 5 Scorers each have their own update channel; league-chat is for conversation.

Linking to Discord does not buy entry or approve an application. Leaving a website league or unlinking Discord removes its access on the next sync. Being eliminated from a competition does not remove your league chat access.

If your organiser uses their own Discord server, follow their invitation and the connection instructions on your league’s messaging page.

What gets posted?

Before the deadline, picks stay private. Once locked, enabled pick announcements reveal all entrants’ selections. Verified result updates show scorers, points, who is through, who bottled it, rollovers and winners according to league notification settings.

Website-only players are included too. You can use Telegram, Discord or neither; announcements describe the same competition. Updates depend on verified football data and are not guaranteed instant goal alerts.

WhatsApp automatic group posting is not currently enabled. Owners can use the WhatsApp sharing pack on the messaging page.
